Our Values
I

RITUAL

Ritual sits at the centre of MAYA Collection. These rugs are made to support everyday living; creating space to pause, gather, reflect and connect. They sit underfoot as life unfolds, bringing warmth through their material and presence.
II

COMMUNITY

MAYA Collection exists within a network of artisans, collaborators, and homes. We value the hands that craft each rug and the people who gather upon them, fostering connection from origin to everyday living.
III

ENDURING

MAYA Collection transcends trend. Grounded in balanced design and softened, sophisticated colour, each piece is created to feel as meaningful today as it will for generations to come.

Designed

Each rug begins as a hand-drawn vision. Sketched and painted onto paper, the design takes shape slowly; each line considered, each proportion carefully resolved. It’s here that form and balance are first worked through.

Sourced & Dyed

Fibres are chosen for depth, softness, and strength. Each strand selected not only for how it looks, but for how it will live how it will hold weight, light, and time. Colour is introduced slowly where yarn absorbs layered tones inspired by earth and spice. No two threads hold colour in identical measure, subtle variation becomes part of the story.

STRETCHED & KNOTTED

The loom is prepared with precision, and warp threads are stretched to carry the design. Knot by knot, the surface emerges. Guided by the mapped design, each thread is tied by hand. Through patience and mastery, texture, depth, and character are born.

The Final Form

The surface is carefully sheared, revealing clarity in pattern and depth in texture. Washed and refined, the fibres soften and settle. Each edge is secured, every detail reviewed. Only once balance and integrity are assured is the MAYA piece complete.

Yarn

Origins of Fibre
Sourced from landscape, in its most elemental state. Fibre before it is spun, shaped, or defined.

Ceremony

Ritual and Preparation
Leaves gathered and handled with care. This process is shaped by time as a quiet practice where material, timing, and touch remain closely connected.

Tapestry

Tradition
A practice shaped over generations, carried through skilled hands. Pattern, material, and meaning woven into a lasting form.

Spin

Guided by Hand
Yarn is measured, wound, and set under tension before further process. Preparing each length for dye and eventual weaving.

Weave

Surface and Rhythm
Threads interlaced through tension and repetition. A surface formed gradually, line by line.
